Spring Break Music Camps
Bring your children to our spring break music camps at the Tucker Academy for the Arts. Have them spend their days playing instruments, exploring, and dancing to new sounds.

  • Palm Beach County: Monday, March 31 - Friday, April 5, 9:00am-3:00pm
  • Broward County: Monday, April 7 - Friday, April 12, 9:00am-3:00pm

Investment:

  • $300 / week
  • $100 for 1 day enrollment / $110 with meals

    Summer Camps
    The south Florida Performing Arts Camp is a high energy non-competitive performing arts camp focusing on Music, Drama and Musical Theatre. Student Campers are put into groups based on their age, level, and interest and engage in both private and group lessons, as well as ensemble rehearsals for the session productions. Younger campers get the opportunity to try several different instruments and there are outdoor activities and sports as well concerts by visiting musicians several times a week!

    Location: Boca Raton Community High School

    • Session I: June 9-20 - Performance - Friday June 20th!
    • Session II: June 23-July 3 - Performance - Thursday July 3rd!

    Camp Hours: 9am-3pm, Monday - Thursday

    Camp Choices include:

    • Guitar / Bass
    • Drum set / Percussion
    • General Music

    Investment:

    • $498.99 each session / $578 with meals

    2008 Marching Percussion Camp Featuring Bill Bachman

    Location: Boca Raton Community High School

    June 23-July 3, 9:00am-3:00pm

    This camp will be For all percussionists with interest in marching Snare, Tenors, Bass and Front Ensemble. Work on skills needed to succeed in your marching band, indoor drumline, and prepare for Drumcorps auditions. Our staff has marched with some of the best drum corps in the world, including the Concord Blue Devils, Boston Crusaders, Cadets of Bergen County, Madison Scouts, SCV and more. Enjoy rehearsals on top quality yamaha drums and front ensemble equipment.

    Battery Guru, Bill Bachman (www.billbachman.net) will be there Working with the ensembles throughout the final week of the camp!

    General Camp Information

    • Aftercare is avaliable from 3:00pm-6:00pm for $15.00 per day / $20 with meal.
    • 25% Deposit is Required
    • World Renowned clinicians, and educators including:
      • Bill Bachman (Battery)
      • Bill Bachman has studied percussion performance at the University of North Texas and is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music. He has played quads in the University of North Texas' indoor drum line and in the Cadets of Bergen County Drum and Bugle Corps. Bill's awards include Drum Corps International's 1st place percussion with the Cadets at the world finals in 1994, Drum Corps International's over all runner-up in 1994 and 1995, the Percussive Arts Society's 1994 tenor individual competition runner-up, and 1st place at the Percussive Arts Society's 1996 Indoor Drum line Competition with the University of North Texas. Bill has instructed many award winning groups including the Bluecoats, Blue Knights, and Carolina Crown in his 12 years touring with Drum and Bugle Corps. He's the author of Row-Loff's Quad Logic, Rudimental Logic, and Bass Logic, designer of Vic Firth's Heavy Hitter pad series, producer of the instructional drum DVD, "Reefed Beats", and is an endorser of Dynasty drums, Remo drumheads, Zildjian cymbals, Vic Firth sticks & mallets, and Sensaphonics earplugs. HeÕs an international clinician and still loves to drum!

      • Tom Hurst (Drum set & Percussion)
      • Tom Hurst is a graduate of the University of Florida and splits his time either playing music in Orlando as a musician for Disney (in the Animal Kingdom's Village Beatnik's), or on the road as the drummer for Lyric Street Recording artists, Trent Tomlinson in 2007 and now Bucky Covington. Besides these current gigs, over the past 5-7 years he has worked along side some other amazing talents/great people including: Australian guitarist, Jedd Hughes, Shelly Fairchild, as well as Greg Hanna and Amy Dalley with whom he toured quite a bit opening for Toby Keith and Rascal Flatts. Aside from being on the road as a sideman, Tom has the opportunity to work with two other talented musicianÕs: Chris Nix and Trip Wamsley (bassist). Chris and Tom have also been part of the house band in a Gainesville club/mainstay: Tom is also a teacher/associate director for a community based leadership/music academy: Studio Percussion founded by Tobin Wagstaff. Studio Percussion has grown to encompass numerous performance ensembles open to all ages and backgrounds. He also acts as Program Coordinator for an Indoor Drumline, based in Orlando: Infinity Percussion (formerly known as 1st Degree). He co-founded both ensembles with his long-time friend, John Campese.

      • Greg Satterwiate (Piano)
      • Greg Satterwiate is a graduate of Dreyfoos School of the Arts and the Univerity of Miami. Mr. Satterthwaite currently shares his knowledge while teaching privately in Palm Beach county. Mr. Satterthwaite's musical journey has included playing before thousands of people at venues such as the Palm Beach Sound Advice amphitheatre, Meyer amphitheatre, Gusman Hall and The Kravis Center for Performing Arts. Boney James, Jon Fadis, and Kevin Mahogany, are a few national recording artists that Mr. Satterthwaite has delighted with his talent. Mr. Satterthwaite currently is the Music Director at Christ Fellowship Royal Palm Campus, in Royal Palm Beach, Florida. He consistently provides musical entertainment at various festivals, events, and private functions around South Florida.

      • Tom Aungst
      • Tom Aungst is the Percussion Caption Supervisor and arranger of the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps, Tom has captured seven D.C.I. World Championship rings, five Fred Sanford High Percussion trophies, and nine runner-up titles.

        A member of the Cadets from 1981-1984, Aungst went on to become a lead percussion tech with the corps from 1985-1988 before assuming the caption supervisory role in 1989, a position he still holds today. In 2006, Tom was inducted into the D.C.I. Hall of Fame.

        In life outside drum corps, Tom is the Percussion Director for the Dartmouth Public School System in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. His job includes teaching percussion students at all levels of the program, from the beginning students in 4th grade, to the middle and high school percussionists. Under Tom's direction, Dartmouth High School has captured two W.G.I. Indoor Percussion championships (1998 & 1999) and has consistently placed in the top three.
